SOLD 18th century corner Library Cupboard

This mid-18th century oak corner cupboard originates from the Prebysterie (living quarters of a pastor) of the small Normandy village of Foie, now part of Normanville. It was reputed to be removed during the French revolution and ended up in a Southern France country mansion which now is a hotel. To partly finance Restauration costs of their buildings the owners sold us this piece. Its very rare to find a double curved (bombé and galbé) piece of furniture let alone a library. The back and shelves are partly replaced but the front is completely original. Its a fine example of the Louis XV style (circa 1730) and also breaths the lightness of the period. Its dimensions are 208 x 208 x 228 h cm's or 81.89 x 81.89 x 89.8 inches. 30502
