dogon bracelet

A beautiful black and white marble bracelet from the Dogon culture. The Dogon have existed since the 15th century till now in Mali, West Africa. As one of very few their culture was kept alive and still trives today. Among other things they are known for their exquisite craftmenship in close relation to the surrounding nature. This bracelet is most likely late 19th century and belonged to the private collection of Claude Harrel (1932-2016) who was the French ambassador in Senegal between 1983 and 1986.
